Employment support for refugees Employment Support for Refugees Eligible refugees and ESOL learners in Oxfordshire can benefit from our specialist employment support to help them into the job market. This project is designed to help refugees to build up their skills and employability, recognising that they have a huge amount to offer local employers, but need the right support to break down barriers to finding work. Working with Syrian Refugees: Customer Service training In September 2018, we were delighted to start a new project providing ESOL Customer Service training to Syrian refugees. This course covers both class based learning and the chance to gain practical workplace experience with partner businesses including Jury's Inn, Pret a Manger and Midcounties Co-operative. Build a Bike Course We are also offering a "Build a Bike" bicycle maintenance course in partnership with Broken Spoke Bike Co-operative. By the end of the course, each participant would end up with a bike with parts, locks and lights. This training offer would also include UK roads cycle safety training as a 121 intervention per learner. Ongoing employment support Developing links with local employers (delivered by Aspire) Once in employment, everyone taking part in the project can also benefit from in-work support to guide their transition into the workplace.
