Aspire supported by Oxford's new Lord Mayor We’re thrilled to share that the new Lord Mayor for Oxford, Councillor James Fry, has chosen to support Aspire in 2022-23. Councillor James Fry will serve as the 62nd Lord Mayor of Oxford, taking over the responsibility from Councillor Mark Lygo, who has served as Lord Mayor of Oxford since November 2020. This support is particularly important for Aspire, who, in their 21st year, are stepping up once again through launching their latest appeal Going Forward Together to support more local people into independence, financial and housing security, against a challenging backdrop posed by the cost of living increase. Paul Roberts, CEO of Aspire, says: “It’s fantastic to hear that Councillor Fry has chosen to support Aspire in his Mayoral year; the need for our work in communities across Oxford has never been more pressing so we’re delighted to have our important work recognised and supported in this way.”Alongside Aspire, the Lord Mayor will also be supporting Asylum Welcome and Emmaus Oxford - two organisations Aspire works closely with. The Lord Mayor generally carries out more than 300 engagements each year. These cover a wide range, from Royal visits and leading the City's annual Remembrance Sunday service, to small community group meetings and charity events.
