This year I shall be running the Oxford half marathon on behalf of Aspire in memory of my cousin Glen.

Aspire is an incredible charity that supports both the homeless and disadvantaged people across Oxfordshire. Glen was the peer mentor development lead within the charity and worked tirelessly to change the lives of so many people despite battling his own mental health.

Mental health is a term that has constantly been subject to stigma, however as we go through the 21st Century, with charities such as Aspire raising awareness and supporting those who suffer we begin to break the silence. Nevertheless, suicide is still the most common form of death for men under the age of 50, and the work Glen started must be continued. Raising awareness, fighting the battles, supporting those around us is at the centre of what Aspire does and it will be an honour to run for them. Unfortunately, Glen lost his battle with his mental health in late 2018, but his legacy continues, in his wife, in his wonderful children, and to those who knew him. I run this race for him. Please donate to this incredible charity.
