People and communities lead change

Aspire is delighted to be launching our Enterprise Development Programme during 2019, giving us increased and dedicated in-house capacity to support the development and incubation of social and community enterprises.

We are very proud to be able to incubate and support the following community and student-led initiatives to become established and create further social impact locally in Oxford:

OSEP

Aspire, as a local award-winning social enterprise, is a founding member of the Oxfordshire Social Entrepreneurship Partnership (OSEP), a new Community Interest Company dedicated to supporting the growth of social enterprise in Oxfordshire. Aspire sits on the Board and helps to set OSEP's strategic direction of travel.

Makespace Oxford

This is home to a community events space, meeting rooms, an edible garden, a community café and a making and workshop space. It will be home to community organisations spanning arts & culture, food, architecture and design, small-scale manufacturing and campaigning.

Makespace Oxford will actively seek to involve marginalised and vulnerable communities through training, workshops, a community café and employment opportunities.

Greater Change

Greater Change is a donation platform that enables cashless giving to support the homeless including through your phone.

Money given to individuals is released on essentials that are part of that person’s personal development plan. The individual and their support worker develop this plan together, it is designed to enable them to leave homelessness behind for good. This means when you give to someone through the app you can be sure it is helping this person buy something that will help them progress out of homelessness.

Broken Spoke Bike Co-op

We're supporting this wonderful team of bicycle repair enthusiasts to set up their new home in the Aspire main building at St Thomas' School, Osney Lane. They have been sharing our space since June 2018. Their mission is to create an inclusive and environmentally aware cycling community in Oxford by teaching people from all backgrounds to become self-sufficient and proficient in bicycle maintenance and riding.
