  • Access to Aspire's employment support, including work experience on our enterprise businesses, CV writing and links to local employers for jobs
  • Wider support with any other issues you may have such as housing or debt

Henry's story:

My name is Henry and I started working with Aspire’s sports project in October 2016 after being introduced to them at the hostel I was living in. Straight away I knew this was the perfect project for me as I was new to Oxford and I did not know anyone. Training with Aspire's boxercise class has given me something to do, people to talk to, a structured routine and it has helped me to keep fit.
Aspire funded me to do a Personal Training course and I passed both the Levels 2 and 3 to become a fully qualified personal trainer. I had now been in the bail hostel for 11 months and I was about to be evicted. Jamie from Aspire supported me and found a place for me in ACT housing. I am now working as a full time personal trainer at Pure gym. I would like to thank Jamie and Aspire for all of the support I have received since arriving in Oxford.

Lisa's story:

"Aspire came along when I was dealing with great difficulty, stuck in a hotel, homeless, with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Aspire took me out for day trips to walk with other people in similar positions around Blenheim Estate, helped me with my housing and with so many other things - I don't know where I'd be now without Aspire. They have lifted me up and helped me back on the right track to go forward with my life."

Active Reach

We're part of Active Reach, a community project launched in Blackbird Leys in August 2020 to provide accessible opportunities to get active, connected and receive support for young and older people facing disadvantage, mental health difficulties, long-term health conditions or affected by homelessness and poverty.

This community need has never been greater, and we're so proud to be involved in collaboration with a variety of community partners, including Active Oxfordshire, and support from Sport England.

Fit Exchange

Fit Exchange, the collaborative project between Active Oxfordshire, Fit Union Limited and Aspire has come far since its conception in early 2021, supporting people from under-represented backgrounds to access sports and fitness courses and qualifications, fulfilling voluntary or paid roles within the physical activity sector, and to use their new skills to support their local communities to get active.
