No Place Like Home Christmas Appeal

We believe that there's no place like home. But this Christmas, hundreds of local people are at risk of homelessness, or already sleeping rough.

It’s well known that Oxfordshire is facing a homeless crisis. Aspire have been supporting homeless people into employment for over 17 years. But we’re stepping up and doing more than ever before to tackle homelessness this winter. We’re providing advice and support to prevent people from becoming homeless in the first place and we’re giving rough sleepers the housing and employment support they urgently need. With your help, we can do so much more.

Your donations will help us reach vulnerable local people at risk of homelessness, helping them to stay in their homes for Christmas. We'll also be able to support more rough sleepers in urgent need, helping them to find safe housing and longer-term specialist advice, including those who can't usually access support.

£18 could provide a hot drink and first employment support session for a rough sleeper

£36 could pay for basic kitchen goods for a new home

£65 could pay for construction training for a formerly homeless person

This is Sarah's story:

Sarah became at risk of homelessness after her partner left and she was struggling to pay the rent. She works part time but was left with just £35 per week after rent and bills to feed her and her five children, and wasn't aware of the financial support that she had the right to claim. Sarah was due to be evicted in early November, but Aspire were able to provide her with support and advice and represented her in court to protect her from going into temporary accommodation. Sarah's eviction was stopped and she is now able to stay in her home; we are working with her to access benefits and put her life back on track.

Thanks to the support we were able to give, Sarah and her children will be at home for Christmas and their future already looks a lot brighter.

How you can help

You can help us reach more people like Sarah this Christmas. You can donate to our appeal or organize a Christmas fundraising event at your home, school or workplace.

Buy a Christmas gift

For many of the people we work with, who are affected by poverty and disadvantage, Christmas can be a difficult time. We want to make sure that everyone has a present to open on Christmas Day, and we need your help!

If you would like to buy a Christmas gift for one of our clients, including people at risk of homelessness, those living in poverty and refugees, here's how it works:

  • Choose a gift £5 or under such as biscuits, chocolates, toiletries or gloves (no alcohol please)
  • Wrap the gift and clearly label if it is for a man, woman or child
  • Drop the gift off at Aspire's main offices by 14th December 2018

For more information, or to talk to us about coming out to your community to collect presents, please call Helen on 01865 204450. Thank you and Merry Christmas
